Live Streaming of the 2025 CCOG Cup Final: A High-Stakes Audiovisual Production in French Guiana

An Ambitious Live Production for a Major Sporting Event in French Guiana
On the occasion of the 2025 CCOG Cup final, our Primo Studio team handled the live capture and direction, broadcast on YouTube and Télé-Peyi Guyane. A substantial technical and human challenge successfully managed in Saint-Laurent du Maroni, within a particularly demanding context.
With just one and a half weeks of preparation, we had to simultaneously manage visual creation, equipment purchase and rental, and team assembly, all during the rainy season in French Guiana.

Technical Setup for the Multi-Camera Live Stream
For this live audiovisual production, we implemented:
- 4 mobile camera operators
- 1 PTZ camera for wide shots
- A centralized live control using OBS Studio, an open-source software
- Management of scenes, transitions, graphic overlays, and replays
- Use of several OBS plugins (non-exhaustive list)
We worked on numerous graphic animations and motion design elements, although not all were integrated during the live due to time constraints and technical challenges.

Wireless Video Transmission: Hollyland Pyro S and Mars 400 Pro
For video transmission to the control room:
- Hollyland Pyro S
- Hollyland Mars 400 Pro
👉 Unfiltered field review The Mars 400 Pro devices clearly disappointed us, offering shorter range and less stability than the Pyro S units. Unfortunately, no alternative solutions were available at that time.
The Pyro S, on the other hand, provided better performance, but we encountered a critical issue just before going live.

The Baffling Bug That Almost Collapsed Everything
The Pyro S units were connected via USB-C directly to an M2 Max Mac Studio. Suddenly, both Pyro S units lost all signal in OBS without any apparent reason.
We attempted:
- Restarting the Mac
- Restarting OBS
- Restarting the Pyro S units
- Changing USB-C cables (Thunderbolt 4 and 5)
👉 Nothing worked.
Due to time pressure, I switched everything off for about 1 hour, then replaced the USB-C cables with 10Gb USB-A to USB-C cables. And then, magically, everything came back.
This occurred just minutes before the live event started. To this day, we still cannot precisely explain the cause, especially since testing done the day before under real conditions worked flawlessly.

Audio Problems and Interference in Real Conditions
Another major issue arose with a Pyro S dedicated to sound, used to capture:
- Audience feedback
- Official speeches
Despite being less than 150 meters from the control room, we experienced:
- Signal dropouts
- Signal instability
- Inability to properly exploit audio
As a result, we unfortunately could not broadcast the sound and speeches as planned.

Rain, the Number One Enemy of Live Productions in French Guiana
As often happens in French Guiana, rain appeared during the event.
Camera Protection
- Sony cameras equipped with Hollyland transmitters
- External or V-Mount batteries
- OP/Tech USA Rainsleeve protections
These covers are effective, but too tight when the camera bodies are heavily equipped, making handling and viewing difficult. Wider protections would have been more suitable.
Outdoor PTZ Camera
The outdoor PTZ camera required a custom solution. We designed and 3D-printed a protective hood thanks to Manifact.fr, but the insulation was insufficient.
During halftime, we had to intervene at height to:
- Clean infiltrated water
- Restore the PTZ’s HDMI signal

An Unstable Internet Connection Despite Strong Redundancy
For the live broadcast, we implemented robust network redundancy:
- 2 Starlink connections
- 1 Free 4G modem
- 1 Orange 5G modem
- An online connection aggregation software
- Restream for multi-platform streaming
👉 Despite combining 4 internet connections, bandwidth issues persisted.
This is a tough local reality: > We launch rockets from French Guiana, but in Saint-Laurent du Maroni, internet speed can still be catastrophic.
In mainland France, with similar projects notably for Siemens, such productions would not have presented as many network problems.

An Abrupt End to the Live Stream
At the moment of the trophy and medal presentation, a stadium employee wanting to leave unplugged the control room’s power extension. Result:
- Control room powered off
- Live stream cut off abruptly
A harsh end to an already intense day.

Pride, Experience, and Lessons Learned
Despite all these constraints:
- Weather
- Network
- Unpredictable bugs
- Staffing shortages
- Very tight deadlines
👉 We are proud of what we accomplished.
Producing a multi-camera football live stream, broadcast live in French Guiana at Saint-Laurent du Maroni, with just one and a half weeks of preparation, is no easy task.
This live stream was not perfect given our quality standards and capabilities. But considering the challenges faced, we can say the challenge was met.
